Through the Herald Volunteer Strike Team, neighbors mobilize to clear fuel loads and create defensible space. Through Firewise Community Certification, we prove that our efforts meet national standards, opening doors to recognition, resources, and funding.
Together, these initiatives show that Herald is not waiting for catastrophe—we are building resilience now.
Volunteers are the heartbeat of Herald’s resilience. Every role matters. From the neighbor who sharpens saws to the Strike Team member who clears brush, to the member that sits on the board each action is part of the chain that keeps Herald safe.
Volunteers don’t just help—they embody Herald’s strength. They are the face of our community, breathing life into external partners and showing Sacramento, FEMA, and beyond that Herald is organized, active, and determined.
This is not symbolic work—it is survival work. If Herald is not seen, Herald will not be supported. If Herald does not act, Herald will not be protected.
