Through our partnership with the California Conservation Corps (CCC), the Herald Fire Prevention Council secured over 1,100 hours of free hand-crew labor to clear dangerous wildfire fuels for elderly residents who cannot clear their land on their own.

While CCC hand crews are deployed on active wildfires through the late summer, we face an urgent, technical challenge: hand tools cannot eliminate massive eucalyptus stumps.

Left unmanaged, eucalyptus aggressively resprouts into dense, highly flammable brush within months. To finish what our hand crews started and protect these properties before winter, we are hiring licensed, insured tree and mastication contractors equipped with heavy stump grinders and heavy machinery.
